In an effort to promote more efficient dialogue while in conversation with others, be sure to:
1. Allow space for others to truly express themselves.
2. Take the time to thoroughly explain yourself.
3. Carry a non-judgmental demeanor.
4. Guard your heart.
Agreed?

When it's time for an important conversation, everyone wants to be heard. Remember to listen and be the SAFE space: always extending grace and forgiveness freely. When it is your turn to express your heart, you may really need the grace.
ReplyDelete'My dearly loved brothers, understand this: Everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for man’s anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness.'

DeleteSuch good advice! I think one should also have an open mind, accept constructive criticism, and be respectful if someone does not share your vision or ideas. Here them out without being confrontational. You might learn something new.
ReplyDeleteThanks, you reminded that an open mind limits my selfishness. Thanks for stopping by
DeleteI was thinking the same thing that James says, be slow to speak and swift to listen.

Spot on lady2of5! Good reference of scripture. The book of James was the first thing that came to mind as well. Ponder on this. We were given two ears and one mouth.
ReplyDeleteCould it be that listening can actually be more important than speaking at times? Just a thought. Extending grace and mercy is something I am so mindful of.
Gal 6:1 says Brethren if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Thanks for all the insight family.
I’m going to consciously implement the four tips stated to better communicate with family and friends this week.
Have a blessed week!
Well said. Thanks for stopping through...
DeleteThat is Good Food for Thought.
ReplyDeleteTo think before I speak, considering others rather than myself is not an easy task; but it is something that I need to be intentional about.
Agreed. Not easy to take me out of the picture sometimes. Thanks Anonymous
